About the Photographer
Jeff Davis, C.P.P. has been working on his craft since 1978, starting with wedding photography he has always enjoyed creating Storybooks for families (Wedding & Bar & Bat Mitzvah) with the knowledge that someday future generations
would view them and enjoy the happy times that their ancestors enjoyed. This desire has carried over into his current work which includes fine portraiture. Creating portraits is so much fun because you can cover so many moods and feelings. Capturing the family group while doing something they enjoy, the closeness of mother & child, the playfulness of children, the Good-times of being a High School senior, the love between a young or mature couple, the bride in her dream-come-true gown, the first anniversary portrait just for him, even creating the business portrait that helps in career advancement is a joy and challenge. Probably the portrait that brings the most job satisfaction is creating the portrait of the 12-13 year old, that special time in our lives when we feel awkward, legs too long, ears too big, growing into our new teeth, and oh, lest we forget that third eye zit. When completing the portrait and seeing the young man or woman view their portrait and watching them sit up straight, their chest puff out a little and smile, and knowing that they look Great!, that is job satisfaction.
Since moving to Houston, TX in 1990, Jeff has had the opportunity to work with Ben Smusz, a Commercial / Advertising photographer for over 30 years. He has taught Jeff many of the skills used in creating the incredible images he's made, that sell many products and companies. In 1992 Jeff passed the testing necessary to obtain his Certification from the Professional Photographers Association, and continues to meet the standards (continuing education, quality of work & ethics) necessary to maintain his C.P.P. status. Since 1992 he has been using the technology provided by the Macintosh computer to create new and restore old or damaged photographs. The technology has got here where we no longer have to tell Mrs. Smith, "NO", when she asks if there is any way we can take Billy from this portrait and move him over to this one. Recently the digital imaging expertise we have enabled us to shoot and deliver over 200 photos at a party in one night. The excitement of new ways to create photographs mixes with our tradition of creation of color & B&W archival prints to continue to motivate & stretch our imaginations.
